INTRODUCTION BY THE ARCHITECT

Participating in the creation or adaptation of a cultural monument is always an architectural challenge, and it was no different with the reconstruction and extension of this heritage building with two courtyard wings, period galleries and a historic basement. The building is located in Vyšehradská Street, the New Town, in the Prague Conservation Area.

Vyšehradská 33 combines extensive renovation of the former house “U Kozolupských” with a new residential building in the courtyard. Great attention is devoted to the interconnection of historical and artisanal details with modern, timeless materials. The new residential building with five floors and a basement, used as an underground car park, is rounded off at the rear of the site. There are spacious gardens attached to the individual apartments. The proposed redevelopment is heavily sunlit towards the south, together with the green roofs the design allows for a prominent connection to the exterior.

The wide range of layout solutions in such a compact development meets the requirements of maximum living comfort, and thus the aesthetic quality of the design can satisfy even the most demanding clientele.
